To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, a tea party was held at Clarke Foley on Saturday 4th June. The hall, decked with plants, flowers, bunting and garlands, was a wonderful sight to behold, and the Ladies paraded their royal bonnets in fine style.
The party was opened with the National Anthem, and an introduction by Hilary Greaves.
Everyone enjoyed the Royal quiz, and the poems read by Roger Davy. The afternoon tea was a delicious array of home made cheese scones and sandwiches, followed by scrumptious home made cake and a home made strawberry cream tea.
The best decorated hat competition was judged by Gill Jackson. With more than twenty entrants this made a delightful spectacle.
There was a sing along with Shirley, and Keith McDermott played English tunes on the piano. The raffle of wine and other goodies kept everyone on their toes!
Clarke Foley would like to thank our volunteers, events team and all of our entertainers who gave their time to help make this a special and successful event.
Thanks also go to Tesco Ilkley who supplied strawberries and cream, Ilkley Playhouse for bringing props for the stage display, and to Asquiths for the loan of the beautiful plants.
